Tiny bathroom in big style. Part I

We start and end our day in the bathroom. Its a pleasure to have it spacious, dry and sweet-scented. Big bathroom expands the designing boundaries with possibility to accommodate luxury equipment, splendid decor and accessories. But what if this area is limited for the most functional items: shower, sanitary hardware, washbasin, and barely provides enough space for comfortable and safe movement.

Take a look on a minimal Viola Home Design bathroom project, which proves that tight spaces allow the room to be functional and aesthetic as well.

3 m² bath area

Starting with the basic layout. The 3 m² tiny bathroom, luckily can harbor the walk-in shower, toilet  and sink alongside the 220 cm wall, where all necessary plumbing fixtures are located.

❗Minimal ergonomic measurements for bathroom utilities : washbasin 80 cm, in-wall toilet 60 cm, shower 80 cm, and not less then 60 cm clear zone to move comfortable.

The walk-in shower are to be separated by the glass wall to visually save the space and avoid shading.

After the layout is ready - you can move on with designing it visually... The bathroom can be from colorful to black&white, from minimal to practical. But take in mind not to overload its minimal space.

❗Tips & tricks that can expand the tiny bathroom visually.

1) Combine the tiles: from the trendy ones to vintage, from light to darken in order to separate the zones in the bathroom. The variety of floor and wall tiles can create an illusion of expanding the space.
2) Light colored walls widens optically too. Try water resistant decorative plaster for wall finishing. Neutral color palette, natural textures, sleek finish - that will enhance space also.
3) Functional lighting: ceiling (spots or plafond), mirror lighting, built-in shelf lighting.
4) Avoid visual noise with toiletries - use wall mounted cabinets, built in shelves, hidden niches for hygiene tools.
5) Minimum accessories - every item in a small space is optically maximized thus should be carefully selected.
6) Mirror - it is not only necessity for checking the appearance in the bathroom, but it definitely creates an illusion of more space, adds light and style.
7) Glass wall instead of additionally built wall and textile curtains for shower zone.
