"Designing HOME for people is a privilege. Empathetically look at people first - to meet their need physically, emotionally and visually" (Phoebe Oldrey)

Picking artwork for your interior

Art rarely participates in the interior concept moodboards, contrary to the wall paint, flooring, textile or furniture. But painting, sculpture, art installation - is much more than an inner space element. It may inspire life, stimulate intellectually and add unique character. Therefore, it is important to think about it already during the interior conception phase.

The artwork can become an axis of the whole interior

When selecting Art for your interior (home or public) - start from your inner voice. Your inner feeling tells what kind of art style or form you love and reflects your personality, important events or memories.

Never attempt to incorporate Art in the prevailing interior color palette or solid style. Your unique Artwork may simply become a decoration element and loose its exclusivity.

Cross your visual borders and trust art mood

There are wide and diverse possibilities to find Artwork. But if you are serious about investment and Art is not a short-term decorative element for you - it is important to take a look at the artist's biography, other projects, exhibitions etc. If you lack confidence, discuss with art specialists. But be brave to explore and buy what you really like, what you would like to leave to your children, and is worth to take with you even if you change living place.

Practical advise

👉Mind the dimensions. Most galleries offer "try on" services, on how the Artwork looks in your home space. Do not be afraid taking big art for small spaces, because they may widen and deepen the area, become as an additional window.

👉Photograph, painting, watercolor or graphic work - make sure its framed correctly and is not exposed at the direct sun, hot or cold, humidity. This applies to other various Artworks and sculpture.

👉Usual exposition height is 1.55 meters, measuring to the painting center. This is the standard high in the museums and galleries. Off course, it also depends on the other factors, like ceiling height and furniture.

Do not forget that Artwork should breath life into your interior, reflect your personality, and set the mood to your space. It is not just a matching piece of decor.
