Living industrially cozy
The living room is undoubtedly a heart of every home. Its the area that gathers family or welcomes guests. From the designing point of view its a creative possibility to experiment with colors, lighting, layers and furniture. But it is also a challenge to correctly express the spirit of the family.
Viola Home Design projects the first floor of the 4-member family house situated on the outskirts of the big city. The location meets the nature, but still echoes the dynamics of the city.
ROLLING OUT THE STYLE
When you think of the style of the interior, most frequently retrospective ideas are brainstorming the imagination. These are in particular welcomed from the client, who prompts the vision by suggesting the desired colors, textures or a few statement pieces of furniture and décor.
...the track lighting system, exposed bricks, raw wood décor - these were the keywords that led Viola Home Design to the industrial style of the first floor. It also expressed the family's desire to convert an abandoned building into urban living place - conforming the original idea of this modern trend to accommodate old factories.
There are no white typographic prints, factory window or iron piping, but the combo of wood and metal, earth-tone colors, shaggy rug makes it simple and not too much exposed. A white sofa for relax and chill. Added yellow vintage armchair as a visual counterbalance of the brick wall.
ZONING AT THE FLOOR
To naturally integrate three functional zones into one open space - living room, dining room and kitchen - is very often overlooked designer task, but indeed very crucial.
The living and the dining areas are visually separated by the light wood beam and pillar, but conceptually merges with the help of the urban and catchy details such as metal lighting fixtures or colorful chairs that echoes with the yellow armchair.
Meanwhile the boundary between the dining zone and kitchen is drawn by the functional wine column, which blends in to both areas with the help of white cupboards.
WALLS THAT DON'T SEPARATE BUT JOIN
Walls should not be considered to separate spaces on the floor. Visually they isolate areas, but in order to achieve the unified conception - they serve when not left empty. Lofty or decorative paint, indirect lighting, pieces of art - all can be used to unify the floor idea and resonate with the family soul.
A TV wall in between two entrances without giving much meaning. TVs generally look nice against neutral wall shades such as whites, off-whites and grays.
Besides tech structures or pictures on the walls, textile can also glam up the room. Patterned drapes and curtains lend character and complete the look of the big window, maximize the height of walls, and are a simply an elegant idea. The plain curtains will definitely not overshadow the concrete walls.
