"Designing HOME for people is a privilege. Empathetically look at people first - to meet their need physically, emotionally and visually" (Phoebe Oldrey)

Importance of functional zoning

The interior design is like a dish being prepared with a recipe that only designers are aware of. One of the ingredients is the defining of the functional zones. The servicing zones have their location already by plan (kitchen, bathroom or wc). But individual or collective areas are usually identified by the interior designer taking into consideration the location, the space and ergonomics, the lighting and many other factors. Trust the professional on determining where your or child bedroom should be situated in the house.

Bellow are the examples of the various floor plans. From the traditional (closed) to contemporary (open). The latter is a trend in modern homes and it allows family feel together being on the different parts of the floor. Meanwhile the traditional plan usually provides more privacy with separated bedrooms.

There is also a way to plan your house in a transitional way. But bare in mind that no privacy is maintained when moving between the rooms. Such planning can successfully be applied on the floors with the conceptual collective or servicing zones (like fitness, spa, cinema areas at home).
